Conservation land

Five years after moving into the house we finally ventured into the neighboring conservation land last year. Ever since, we have gone in on a regular basis. Mr Ring gives tours of the area at times and explains the nature aspect that I could only make up.

Another day off

Taking a boat ride through some canals and saying hi to Black Gordon again.
The kids on that old, nice train. Jimmy keeps telling me how boring it is to come to the trains all the time but every time he seems to have a great time.

Umple brought us all out to breakfast in the morning. We had no direction about where we were going except that the kids wanted, of course, to go see Black Gordon. The traditional potty trip led to us signing for a boat tour of the canals around the city.

Alot of the tour was like reliving my childhood...or reliving umple's childhood so he says. The tour guide was talking about the history of the area. I couldnt help but think of the more recent history of the area.

Why does it seem like every picture of Catherine should be framed.

here the kids got to play in a fenced off area with a replica trolley.

We bumped into Big Bill and caught him walking around with a weed wacker. He made sure I took a picture of him working to dispell any rumors.

Swan Boats-Boston Common

Another annual trip to the old Swan boats. Since Jimmy was just a big head and tiny body we've been coming to see the sights and freaks around the common every year. This really wasnt a planned trip. We just thought of it yesterday and off we were ten minutes later.
Getting out of the car we had four little voices screaming about going pee pee. After that little debacle we ran right into the little ducklings. As usual there was a crowd of people wanting to have pictures taken.
We went into the frog pond/wading pool. We havent really been quite open about them going in there in the past couple of years, maybe since that little incident there a couple of years ago. But, there were always other kids in there having a good time so this year we caved. Jack splashed some little girl and her daddy as they were walking by. I think he's already flirting with girls. hmmm.

Last year we went into the baseball fields and Jimmy was thrilled when he hit a homer from second base so he couldnt wait to give it another go. This year we got the far field which was a lot bigger. He still hit it deep in the gap in right center. Laura, Catherine and Jack joined in with their swings.

Waterville Valley on the front lawn

We broke out the water slide. Usually we throw it up in the bad yard but today we threw it in the front yard.

Spins game

Last night was the annual Mckenna Spinners game which was well attended once again. Jack is now getting to the point where he just about lasts the whole time...I said just about, but he was awesome really. They all got their foam fingers, multiple bad snacks, ice cream and such. Jack was real excited walking around the whole game with the big kids and finally getting to a real baseball game. He did surprisingly well, alot better than we thought he would anyway.
Jimmy ran into a bunch of friends from school, as always. The kids got to go on the field once again to do the Chicken Dance, not without a little controversy of course. I may have caused a little bit of a riot when I just put all the kids in the back of the line of kids to get on the field. Chicken Dance
That Catherine and Laura just smile their way through it all. They are fun to bring anywhere. Catherine just soaks it all in with that impressive grin when she's happy....and why shouldnt she be.

Ohhh, those two together.
